Mummy & Me Pilates at Be Well with Sanchia
Mummy and Me Pilates is for pregnancy, postnatal recovery and motherhood — with your baby or toddler welcome too!
Pregnancy, birth and motherhood change your body in all sorts of ways and movement during this stage of life should feel supportive, considered and right for you.
Mummy & Me Pilates at Be Well is an energetic, welcoming space for mums to move, build strength and feel more confident in their changing bodies.
Led by women’s health physiotherapist and Pilates instructor Sanchia Newman, Be Well’s Mummy & Me classes in the Isle of Man bring together expert pregnancy and postnatal knowledge, Pilates and pelvic health support in the warm, small-group environment Be Well is known for.
Whether you’re pregnant and want to keep moving safely, newly postpartum, finding your way back to exercise or simply looking for something that feels like you again, you’re very welcome.
Pilates through pregnancy and beyond
Your body is doing a lot.
During pregnancy, Pilates can be a brilliant way to maintain strength, mobility and confidence as your body changes, while helping you stay connected to your core, breathing and pelvic floor.
After birth, the emphasis naturally changes. It’s about gradually rebuilding strength, reconnecting with your body and finding a route back into movement that doesn’t feel rushed or intimidating.
Our classes can help you:
- maintain and build full-body strength during pregnancy
- support mobility and stability as your body changes
- connect with your breathing, core and pelvic floor
- gradually rebuild strength after birth
- improve confidence in movement
- understand your pregnancy and postnatal body
- make some time to look after you
Mummy & Me classes at Be Well include both Mat Pilates and small-group Reformer Pilates, giving you different ways to move as your needs change.
And if you’re coming along with a baby, please don’t worry about everything going perfectly. This is a space where you can feed, cuddle, change, stop, start and generally do what you need to do.
Pilates with a physiotherapist behind it
What makes Mummy & Me at Be Well a little different is the expertise behind every class.
Be Well founder Sanchia Newman is a physiotherapist with more than 12 years’ experience. She graduated with Honours in Physiotherapy and spent three years leading a large regional hospital’s paediatric department before moving to the Isle of Man.
Her belief in movement as part of rehabilitation led her to complete her BASI Pilates qualification in 2017, followed by a 200-hour Yoga qualification and Barre training.
Today, Sanchia’s work has a particular focus on women’s and pelvic health physiotherapy, supporting women through pregnancy, postnatal recovery, pelvic floor concerns, core rehabilitation and returning safely and confidently to exercise. Sanchia recently trained to become a Mummy MOT practitioner being the only private space on the Isle of Man to offer internal assessments.
Mummy & Me brings those worlds together!
It isn’t about exercising harder, keeping up or trying to “bounce back”. It’s about understanding what your body is doing now and giving it the right support to stay strong through every stage.
Your body deserves support through every stage
Every pregnancy is different. Every birth is different. Every recovery is different.
During pregnancy, you may be unsure what exercise is safe as your body changes, particularly if you’re experiencing pelvic or back pain, pelvic floor symptoms or simply feeling less confident in how you move.
After birth, your core may feel completely different. You might be experiencing leaking, heaviness, abdominal separation, back or pelvic pain, or wondering when and how to start exercising again.
Or you might feel absolutely fine and just want to keep moving.
All of that is welcome here!
Our classes are designed to give you a supportive way to move during pregnancy and into motherhood, with someone who understands both Pilates and the clinical side of women’s health.
And if something doesn’t feel quite right, Sanchia can also advise whether additional women’s health physiotherapy support or an individual assessment may be helpful.
And it’s about more than Pilates
Pregnancy and early motherhood can be wonderful, exhausting, exciting, overwhelming and everything in between.
Sometimes just making some time for yourself — or getting out of the house once baby arrives — feels like an achievement.
Mummy & Me is about creating a place where you can move, meet other women in a similar stage of life and feel supported.
Come while you’re pregnant. Come back with baby. Keep moving with us as your body and life change.
No pressure. No judgement. Just expert support, movement and a community of women navigating pregnancy and motherhood alongside you. One thing you can guarantee is you’ll always feel held.
Who is Mummy & Me Pilates for?
You don’t need to have done Pilates before.
Mummy & Me is designed for pregnant women and mums moving after having a baby, whether you’re starting from scratch or have always been active and want to continue moving in a way that feels right for this stage of life.
Because every pregnancy, birth and recovery is different, please get in touch with Sanchia if you’re unsure whether a class is suitable for you, particularly if you have any pregnancy-related concerns, pain or pelvic health symptoms.
