Steady Start Reformer at Be Well

Steady Start Reformer at Be Well

Never done reformer? Welcome to Steady Start Reformer at Be Well. Every Wednesday at 11:30am.

I hear it all the time: “I’d love to try reformer, but I’m a bit scared of the machine.”

And honestly? I get it. A reformer looks like a cross between a bed, a rowing machine and something from a sci-fi film. Springs, straps, a moving carriage. If you’ve never used one, walking into a class where everyone else seems to know what they’re doing can feel like a lot.

That’s exactly why I created Steady Start Reformer.

What is Steady Start Reformer?

It’s a small, gentle introduction to reformer Pilates, every Wednesday at 11:30am here at Be Well in Douglas.

There are only four reformers in the class, so you get proper hands-on guidance. We’ll start right at the beginning: how the reformer works, how to set the springs, how to get on and off safely, and the key movements everything else is built on.

No rushing. No pressure. No one expecting you to know it all.

Who is it for?

Steady Start is for you if:

  • You’ve never tried reformer before and want to learn properly
  • You’ve done a few classes but don’t feel confident yet
  • You’re coming back after a break, an injury or having a baby and want to get back to basics
  • You’d like a slower-paced class with more time on technique

If you’re not sure whether it’s right for you, just message me and we’ll work it out together.

Why physio-led matters

I’m a physiotherapist as well as a Pilates teacher, so I look at movement a little differently. In Steady Start, we focus on doing the basics really well: good alignment, breathing, and connecting to your deep core and pelvic floor.

That foundation is what makes Pilates so effective. It helps you build strength safely, protect your back and joints, and get far more out of every class you do after this one.

What to expect in your first class

  • Arrive 5 minutes early so we can get you settled and set up
  • Wear comfy clothes you can move in, plus grip socks
  • We’ll go through your health form so I know about any injuries or conditions
  • You’ll learn the machine step by step, then move through a full, gentle workout
  • You’ll leave feeling stretched, stronger and (I promise) much less scared of the reformer

Where it leads

Once you feel confident, you can move into our Group Reformer classes, or keep coming to Steady Start for as long as you like. Plenty of people love having a calmer, technique-focused class in their week.
